As a student of architecture, real estate management and development Christopher Bonafacio (24) wanted to become a project developer. However, during his trainee ship at Janssen de Jong Bouw South he discovered his true passion: engineering. “Project development was a bit too vague for me. In the work preparation and execution you is much more specific”.
In a new construction project for 40 houses in Heeze, Christopher was immediately allowed to put his technical and managerial qualities into practice as an assistant contractor. “I remember: it was January and cold. That took some getting used to after six years in the warm school desks…”. He also supervised a pilot project with ready-made solid floor slabs, in which all piping and electricity were pre-installed in the factory. Christopher: “The floor slabs are assembled immediately on the building site, without the need for concrete. This way work can continue quickly and the house is earlier waterproof.”
At Janssen de Jong Bouw Christopher finds the ideal environment to develop his talents, under the supervision of Ariejan Verhagen. “You really work together. Everyone is ready to help. They won’t let you down.” His management qualities are sharpened in the Young Potential Development program. Next step: project coordinator. “In that position I coordinate all activities during the entire process, from preliminary design to delivery. Very challenging. I am really looking forward to it”.
