The ambitious, eager to learn Jodi Laclé (28) is completely in her element at Windward Roads on Sint Maarten. “My work is very diverse and I really feel that I am growing. Every day I do something new that makes me think: how do I do it? I learn from everything I do,” she says. As a receptionist in the Philipsburg office, the born Aruban is the company’s ‘business card’; the link between the office and the outside world. “But I do a lot more than that. I also work for our subsidiary Central Mix Concrete, do the marketing on social media, take notes on meetings and take care of office management. So my work is very broad.”
Jodi especially appreciates the freedom and space she is given to work independently. “Because I do so many things, I get to know the company well and I can work on my professionalism. Taking notes and social media marketing are the most fun aspects of my job”. During the lockdown Jodi also learns all the ins and outs of video conferencing. “That goes very well, but you still miss the cosiness of the office.” Her final goal: to grow into the position of management assistant, because that’s where she graduated. “I don’t see that happening in the short term. But I hope to get that chance someday”.
